In other news...
This Blog will also be an informative tool those new to the hobby can use to set up their own fish tanks and purchase fish wisely. I want to help as many people as possible regardless of location or financial situation ('cause I know what it's like to get into a new hobby with limited funds and limitless imagination and desires!)
The next few posts will consist of:
Tank types
Which is right for you?
Tank Placement
Cycling 101
I hope to keep these from being dry or boring...
Stay tuned!

Introduction to Tank Work
Hi everyone and anyone!
I have decided to attempt to make a little bit of Money through my hobby (obsession).
After I had a few friends ask about setting up tanks for them I decided it was time to think of starting a very small side business that will be more of a hobby extension. I will be setting up aquariums and helping providing monthly maintenance for anyone who asks and pays me!
My first project will come down to which of my friends buys their tank first.
One who we will call EB is going with a 100 gallon and the other who we will call A will probably go with a 55 gallon.
I will not only be setting up their tanks but will also be teaching each of them how to keep the cycle going (as I wont be able to go over to their houses everyday), aquascaping them and for lack of a better word fishscaping the tanks.
I will pick the plants and decor with the help of the client. I will do the research and present Tank Resident options also with input from the client.
I plan to take each client to a LFS or two and have them look at fish and point out any they like, after that I will research those fish and narrow down or beef up the options and set a number of how many fish of each type they should have in their chosen tanks.
My goal is to have these tanks from dry to fish housing in 2 months, it may be sooner depending on the cycling and the money spent by each client.
I have yet to work out my hourly wage or if it will be more of a visit wage. I do know that it will be low...probably insanely so to begin with. I just really want to help people who love fish and want to do it right aka not hurting fish and waisting money.
I have decided after a weeks worth of debate and word play to go with my second choice of name for my "side business". It shall be known as Tank Work!
So, maybe Tank Work will help support my Multiple Tank Syndrome (MTS)!
Mendal can only hope...
